Is Affiliate Marketing Saturated?

Is Affiliate Marketing Saturated?

Is affiliate marketing saturated? What do you think?

What have others said about this?

What do the facts show?

Let’s dive in.

Affiliate marketing is not “saturated” at all. In fact, it’s just the opposite. Affiliate marketing is at an all-time high and will only continue to grow in the coming years.

in fact, there are many more opportunities for you to make affiliate profits than ever before. Affiliate marketing is a “movement” that is still in its infancy and there are so many “untapped” markets that there will always be plenty of opportunities for you to make affiliate commissions.

Why? The answer is simple. As more and more people discover the joy of making money online, they are going to look for any and every source they can find that will help them do so.

Affiliate marketing is growing at an incredible rate. There are more new people entering the field every day than there are people leaving.

Plus, the “survival of the fittest” nature of the Internet, has only increased the quality of new marketers. If you are not already involved in affiliate marketing, you are going to be absolutely gobbled up by these fierce, new competitors.

It’s a case of “be all you can be”. If you are not already active in this exciting, booming industry, you are going to be left in the dust (or digital desert) by these people who are hungry for success and will do whatever it takes to get it.

The Internet is full of articles telling people

  • they shouldn’t do affiliate marketing,
  • that it’s “saturated” and “overcrowded”…
  • that it’s “too competitive.”

Affiliate marketing in itself is NOT saturated. It’s just coming out of the woodwork all over the place. People are realizing it as the BEST way to make money on the Internet. They’re realizing it faster than ever before… because of the plethora of information available on the topic.

People who say they can’t make any money with affiliate marketing are mostly people who have no clue whatsoever about how to do it. Or else, they’re lazy. Or both.

Is Affiliate Marketing Saturated? Opinions Vs Facts

Interestingly, some people actually acknowledge that affiliate marketing is not for them.

These are people who often reveal they have NO clue whatsoever

  • about the power of a website.
  • about the profits that can be made from one.
  • about the fact a website (especially an authoritative website) can generate leads and sales for you… which in turn makes it possible for you to make even more profits.

Affiliate marketing is as healthy as ever and there are still lots of virgin territories ripe for the picking.

But, you’d better be ready to plough some serious time and energy into this business… because… it sure can get competitive!

In fact, many people say there is so much competition in this business, it’s almost impossible to make any money at all.

That’s not quite true. It is difficult to make a profit in a competitive market… but… it is NOT impossible.

If you use common sense and are willing to work at it, you certainly CAN profitably build a large affiliate marketing business.

Ways to Beat the Competition in Affiliate Marketing

There are thousands of people competing for a few sales and the chances of you making a profit are slim to none.

But, if you use the right tactics… and… if you are willing to put in the time and effort, then you can make a huge income using this model.

Don’t worry about competition

Most of your time will probably be spent on non-competing tasks like creating content, finding the right sites, generating sales, etc.

When you do actually compete against other marketers, it won’t be for very long and, even then, you’ll be fighting an uphill battle.

You see, the “experts” in this business have been honing their skills for years… and… they have lots of money to spend on advertising.

They’ll outspend you by a factor of ten… if… they so choose. And, most likely, they will choose to do that.

For instance, I do not write blog posts about topics already written by experts in my industry, such as

  • Neil Patel
  • Ahrefs
  • Moz

The reason is pretty simple. These guys have

  • established credibility over the years
  • a higher domain authority
  • countless backlinks to their individual articles

Instead, I look out for the “low hanging fruits” so that I increase my chances of becoming visible on Google’s SERP.

I personally use Ahrefs Keyword Research tool to find these low competitive keywords.

So, don’t waste time and energy competing against “experts”. Instead, concentrate on finding untapped, “greenfield” territories where you can make a good profit with relatively little competition.

Let’s talk more about this in the next point below:

Choose a less Competitive Niche

A lot of people fall into the trap of choosing a niche that is already saturated with a lot of competition.

Don’t do it! If you do then you may as well give up right now because it will be almost impossible for you to succeed.

Choose a niche that is not yet saturated with a lot of competition. Choose a niche that has very thin competition.

It should be something where there are only a handful of people who are active and making money.

Choose a niche that has millions of people but only a handful of people are making any money. This will greatly increase your chances of success.

Hence, you do not have to give up on affiliate marketing, but you should rather give up on a highly competitive affiliate niche.

Don’t worry about the affiliate revenue when you start

It’s a bit of a “chore” at first but, after you get going, making affiliate sales (even a small one) will take care of itself.

What you should be concentrating on (as I said earlier) is growing your business as quickly as possible.

This will put more and more “money in your pocket” every day and allow you to live the life you want to live.

Once you’ve got a good, solid base of operation, worry about making money (a huge amount of it) will take care of itself.

Understand The Keywords And Keyword Phrases Used By Your Competitors

As said earlier, affiliate marketing would seem “saturated” for you if you directly compete with experts in the field and you would be better off going for less competitive topics.

However, let’s also acknowledge the fact that you would almost always face some amount of competition no matter which route you take.

The good thing is that it will likely not be as hard and you can outrank your new competitors when you do your due diligence.

Before you start to create a website to promote a particular product or service, then first check out the websites of your competitors.

If those websites are ranking high in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) then there is a good chance that those keywords and keyword phrases are bringing lots of traffic to their sites.

So, use those keywords and keyword phrases (if they have low keyword difficulty) in your website content to bring lots of targeted traffic to your website.

Again, you can use the Ahrefs Keywords Explorer tool for this purpose.

Choose A Product you Really Like and know about

If you are going to do affiliate marketing then your first and foremost priority should be to find a product that you like.

Once you are done with that then think about whether the product can make a lot of money or not. The only way to succeed in affiliate marketing is if you love what you are selling.

If you don’t love the product or service, then it is difficult for you to bring traffic to the site and sell the product or service.

If you don’t know much about a particular product or service then it is difficult for you to promote that product or service on your website. It will be like trying to drive a car using only the steering wheel.

So, before you get started, make sure that you are very familiar with the product or service that you are going to sell.

This way, you will be able to choose the right product or service to promote on your site and also create compelling copy to attract traffic and buyers.

This will also ensure you’re only promoting products that you know have real value for your audience.

Have A Clear Goal In Mind What is your goal

This will sound like a cliche. But it’s fundamental.

What do you want to achieve by creating this website? Once you know this, it will be easy for you to choose the right product or service to promote on your website.

It will also help you to create a compelling sales pitch that will convert visitors into buyers.

If you don’t have a clear goal, then it is difficult for you to succeed in affiliate marketing.

Optimize Your Website To Attract Lots Of Traffic

Traffic is the lifeblood of every website. Without traffic, it is difficult to sell anything.

So, to attract traffic to your website, you should make it as search engine friendly as possible.

Use relevant keywords and keyword phrases in the title, alt text, H1, H2 and H3 tags of your website.

Make sure that your website is well optimized for search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Use internal links wherever possible. It will help search engines to understand the flow of information on your website better. It will also help your website to be read by human visitors.

Create A Website With Unique And Fresh Content

The content of your website should be unique and fresh. It shouldn’t necessarily be something that hasn’t been written about before.

Chances are, almost anything you’ve planned of writing has been published before by others.

But you write your own content from a different perspective altogether.

What’s important is to satisfy the search intent of whoever is looking for such content.

If you copy content from other websites, then you will also face some copyright issues.

So, create original and unique content for your website.

This will help you to stand out from the crowd and also will give you the upper hand when it comes to ranking higher in the SERPs.

Build your email list

Building an email list is the first step towards getting leads on your website.

When you will start promoting your affiliate products, then you can send promotional emails to your subscribers which will let them know about the new products and will also motivate them to buy from your website.

How does it work? People sign up to an opt-in list by adding their email addresses.

You can do this by offering your audience something valuable in exchange for their name and email address.

There are free and paid email autoresponders that are good for affiliate marketing.

Many of these autoresponders will make you can start for free with a list of 1000 subscribers or below.
